Iconic Eames Aluminium Group Chairs
The Eames Aluminium Group Chairs are amongst the most iconic and recognisable of all modern office furniture pieces. Popular since its conception in 1958, the Eames Aluminium Group Chairs are often used in conference rooms, executive suites, hotel or building lobbies, or living rooms and dens.
Interesting then that the Eames Aluminium Group Chairs started off as outdoor furniture.
Eero Saarinen and Alexander Girard designed a house for industrialist Irwin Miller in Columbus, Indiana. Eero approached the Eameses with a special project and asked them to produce high-quality outdoor seating for their build. The rest, as they say, is history.
Although the mesh seating used in the original design has been updated, the intelligent combination of materials persist. Aluminium sections lend the chair both stability and lightness while the actual seat is available in either leather or Hopsak upholstery in a variety of colours.
The group is also available in different manifestations: Eames Aluminium Group Chair EA 105 is a non-swivel aluminium chair without armrests, while the Eames Aluminium Group Chair EA108 features armrests, on a four star polished base, with fixed seat height available.
If these, however, don’t tickle your fancy, other Eames aluminium chairs are also available; Eames Aluminium Armchair EA 124 is a lounge chair with a high backrest and head cushion (or you can opt for the Eames Aluminium Armchairs EA 115 – 116 with a medium height backrest). And to complement your chair, you can pair it with an Eames EA 125 Stool.
