LCW Plywood Low Chairs
Get Price Now
LCW Plywood Low Chairs are the result of numerous years of experimenting with new processes for optimizing the way three-dimensionally moulded plywood fits the contours of the body.
Hailed by Time magazine as the Best Design of the 20th Century, the iconic LCW or “Lounge Chair Wood” (1946) began as an experiment in the Eames’ apartment, where they were moulding plywood in what they called the “Kazam! Machine.” The machine pressed thin sheets of wood veneer against a heated membrane that was inflated by a bicycle pump. Humble beginnings for what would become one of the world’s most widely recognised and highly coveted chairs.
Low-slung, with an expertly crafted moulded seat and back, this chair cradles you in a comfortable position while rubber shock mounts buffer against jarring movement.
The Charles and Ray Eames LCW low chair, with its moulded plywood seat, backrest and base, is once again available with a hide cover just as it was when it was launched in 1946.
